Harmony Area Cancer Support Group Hosting Antique Appraisal Event July 4th

The Harmony Area Cancer Support Group will be hosting a new event over the 4th of July this year. They have arranged for antique appraiser Mark Moran (check out his website here) to appraise antiques in the Fillmore Central High School Stage Gym from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday, July 4th. This will coincide with Harmony’s annual 4th of July Celebration.

Antiques must be registered in advance, and the cost is $15 per item with a two item limit. You can register by dropping off payment at Kingsley Mercantile or First Southeast Bank of Harmony with your name, address, phone number and a listing of the antiques you’d like appraised. For more information, contact Ann at 507-886-2355. Proceeds from this event will support the Harmony Area Cancer Support Group.

A Kidney for Kirsten Awareness Benefit March 31st

Kirsten Mock, a 17 year old Harmony resident, is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Kirsten was born with many complex health issues, including only one severely damaged kidney. She is currently going to Rochester three days per week for dialysis. Kirsten’s family is looking for a person to donate a kidney.

Friends of the family have organized a benefit to assist the family with their expenses and raise awareness of Kirsten’s condition.  The benefit will be held on Friday, March 31st at the Harmony Community Center. The benefit will feature The Danger Committee, a knife throwing comedy act who have been seen on America’s Got Talent and perform at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival.

Also featured will be a special presentation on how you can help Kirsten with a kidney donation.

Starting at 5:30pm, a supper, bake sale, silent auction and raffles will be offered.

The Danger Committee’s performance starts at 6:30pm, with tickets costing $10 for adults and $5 for children.

You can follow Kirsten’s story on Facebook at A Kidney for Kirsten.

If you would like to donate an item for the silent auction, contact Amber Coaty at (507)676-5456.
