Harmony Area Historical Society News

The “Let’s have Harmony” production over the 4th of July weekend
was a resounding success!

This production is a short, one-act play. It is collaboration between the Harmony Area Historical Society, Jackie Whitacre, (the English and Theater teacher at Fillmore Central High School) and Harmony community members.

The play was greatly appreciated by enthusiastic audiences of over 100 in attendance on Friday and nearly 100 on Saturday, raising nearly $2000 for the McMichael Elevator Restoration project. The actors did an amazing job!! The venue was just perfect. It was a delightful addition to Harmony’s 4th of July celebrations.

A huge shout-out to all who made this possible.

  • Author of the play, Carol Rhodes (along with the late Marilyn Trouten)
  • Director, Jackie Whitacre for taking on this project and pulling it all together right at the end of a busy school year.
  • The volunteer cast and crew members who brought this vision to life.
  • Miles Petrie and Lisa Miller for the use of the Old Legion Hall for rehearsals and performances.
  • JEM Theatre and Kingsley Mercantile for complimentary popcorn at the performances.
  • Bill and Roxanne Johnson for their contribution of the farm set for the silent auction.
  • The City of Harmony Arts Board for their generous monetary contribution toward this production.
  • The City of Harmony for the use of the Community Center for early rehearsals.
  • Fillmore Central Drama Department for the use of their costumes.
  • Tim Little for his guitar playing and the sing-along accompaniment.
  • Audience Members for joining us and giving generously toward the McMichael Elevator Restoration Project.

Thank you.
