Harmony Spirits will delight customers with a very consistent, high quality spirits made from locally sourced grain. Whiskey, vodka, rum and gin are all 100% handcrafted and extremely smooth. We follow a full circle “farm to bottle” model. The grains we use are locally produced and the distillers’ grains produced are fed to locally raised cattle. Stop in to the tasting room to sample and purchase products.

In 2019, Harmony Spirits opened its doors for business. Featuring vodka, whiskey, gin and rum, their products are an example of using local grains. Be sure to check out their new building and tasting room. You can also enjoy a variety of craft beer, wine and specialty drinks at some of Harmony’s local establishments.
Within a short drive, you can visit some unique breweries, such as Karst, Pulpit Rock, Toppling Goliath and Trout City Brewery.

The Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail connects Harmony to the Root River Trail system with over 60 miles of recreational trail. This DNR maintained trail allows biking, walking, cross country skiing, hiking and rollerblading. The trail starts right behind Harmony’s Visitor Center at the Trail Head Park where you can also enjoy a 9-hole disc golf course, picnic shelter, playground, parking lot and Visitor Center.
The Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail travels through lovely countryside and amongst the wildlife, passing through a variety of wooded areas, pastoral farm sites, rolling hills and near spring-fed Camp Creek.
David Coleman of Delano, MN, shared this video from July 5, 2020, biking the Root River and Harmony-Preston Valley trails. There is a focus on contemplation and meditation at beautiful spots along the journey, taking place during a full day of bicycling, from morning to evening.
Harmony also belongs to an organization called the Root River Trail Towns, a group dedicated to promoting our bike trail system and region. Check out their September series of Taste of the Trail events!

The Harmony Area Historical Society hosts various temporary and permanent exhibits at both the Visitor Center and Community Center. Learn about karst geology at the Harmony Visitor Center and learn how sink holes are created at the interpretive site on the bike trail. The Historical Society is helping to preserve the rich heritage of Harmony with a display at the Harmony Community Center. View graduating class photos, awards and trophies from the early 1900s to the consolidation in 1994.
In nearby Burr Oak, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum offers seasonal tours of one of the childhood homes of Laura Ingalls Wilder. This iconic American author and her family lived in Burr Oak in the 1870’s, and it is the birthplace of her sister, Grace.

Everyone will find something they enjoy with all the recreational and entertainment opportunities available for the whole family in Harmony!
Run and play at of three different playgrounds in town. Selvig Park is located on Main Street and boasts playground equipment, picnic shelter and gazebo. The Trailhead Park offers a larger playground, picnic area, plenty of room to run and is near the Visitor Center. The Golf Course Park is located near the 9-Hole golf course and offers another playground and picnic shelter.
There are a variety of golfing options in Harmony. Harmony Golf Club is a 9-Hole course that is both challenging and fun. Niagara Cave offers a 18-hole mini-golf course, and there is also a free 9-hole disc golf course located at the Trailhead. Discs are available at the Visitor Center if you didn’t bring your own.
Bike, walk or ski the Harmony-Preston State Trail starting right from the Visitor Center. Enjoy a short walk on the trail to view the sink hole exhibit.
River activities are popular during the warm months including canoeing, kayaking, and tubing on the Root River or Upper Iowa River.
Catch a movie at the JEM Movie Theatre, which is the only movie theatre in Fillmore County. This one-screen movie theater shows new releases and host a variety of concerts and events. You will fall in love with the fresh made popcorn made with real butter!
Many of Harmony’s local establishments offer entertainment, including open mic nights, trivia, live music and special events.
If that’s not enough to do, visit Historic Forestville and see the interpretive village, or take the kids to the Preston Swimming Pool. Check out the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center calendar of events, they offer a wide array of fun and educational classes throughout the summer!
